Phoenix and Mercedes have just released their debut CD called Phoenix & Mercedes. It is a wonderful compilation of classical pieces, musical theatre songs, and some jazz numbers. As well as releasing their debut CD at the Christkindl Market, they are singing at the Market, and are the Christkindl Angels.
This summer they won the best performer's award for their celtic harp work at the Gaelic College in Cape Breton. They also sang at The Barn (a notable venue in Cape Breton, where Canadian greats such as Ashley McIsaac and The Cottars have performed). The girls' performance was televised throughout the East Coast. They also opened for and sang a song with, Dan Hill at the S'port for Kids Benefit held in Toronto. This benefit was televised throughout Ontario. They represented Kitchener-Waterloo in the 2007 Provincial Championships for Musical Theatre performance. They have participated in the Kiwanis Festival both in Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto, since they were 9 years old, and have won numerous awards and scholarships in voice, guitar and piano, and won the once-in-a lifetime Jack and Jill award for overall musicianship in 2004.
Phoenix and Mercedes have had principle roles in two television dramas: When Innocence is Lost, with Keri Russell
and Jill Clayburgh; and Missing, with Vivica A. Fox, Caterina Scorsone, John Pollock and Macy Gray. They have been in several television commercials. Their stage experience includes a singing part in The Man Who Came to Dinner at the Cambridge Theatre; the Pepper Twins in JM Drama's production of Annie; and they were part of a small children's chorus in Evita at Centre in the Square.
They also performed in the Free the Children of Haiti Benefit at The Great Hall in Toronto; A Night of Hope, a fundraiser for Breast Cancer at the Waterloo Stage Theatre; and Cocktails and Candy Canes, a Christmas Cabaret at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto. As well as acting and singing, they enjoy karate, music, art and writing. They play harp, cello, piano, drums, guitar and ukulele, and have their brown belts in karate. As well as an active performing career, Phoenix and Mercedes have had three books published. Phoenix's books, The Cat Who Was A Hero, and Stalik and the Army of Zin; and Mercedes' book, The Battle for Hedgehog Castle, were published in 2006 by Youth for Youth Books. They are available at the Christkindl Market. Phoenix and Mercedes are 14 year old twins and are home-schooled.
Check out when you can see them.
